Barrisdale Estate stable conversion. Electricity, cold water, two toilets. Honesty box £5/person/night. Not MBA.
Most walkers start at Kinloch Hourn, at the end of the public road west of Loch Quoich. Follow the clear path along the south shore of Loch Hourn for about 10.75km to Barrisdale Bay, then take the estate track inland to the bothy and campsite. Allow 3.5 to 4.5 hours each way. The path is rough, rocky and boggy, with repeated climbs and descents, and is not suitable for bicycles. Parking at Kinloch Hourn is charged. Check current road closures before travel.
The bothy occupies part of the old stable building on Barrisdale Estate. The estate runs it as a private, first-come shelter rather than an MBA bothy. The adjoining Stable was converted to bookable accommodation in 2004. No reliable public source gives the building's construction date or states when the bothy first opened.
